Typical Day

For a "Shimmerian," a typical day may include any one or more of the following:
  • Singing, dancing, or moving during a music circle
  • Drilling, hammering, grinding, grating, whisking, or coring (apples)
  • Painting, drawing, melting crayons
  • Building forts
  • Making playdough
  • Counting, measuring
  • Playing dress-up
  • Playing "baby cheetahs"
  • Reading books
  • Writing gratitude cards
  • Squeezing our own lemonade
  • Planting seeds or weeding
  • Snacking on our own school-grown tomatoes
  • Harvesting our own school-grown potatoes
  • Hunting for roly-polies, worms, and salamanders under rocks
  • Folding origami balloons
  • Putting on puppet shows
  • Scrubbing, sponging, sweeping
  • Going down the slide
  • Spinning on the tire swing
  • Searching for "jewels" in the sandbox
  • Listening to stories
  • Napping in a little tent
  • Giving hugs
